Kurdish women fighters in Syria

In Syria Kurds are fighting for an autonomous region in the northeast of the country. They have largely managed to drive out Assad's troops. Now they're fighting the Islamists. One third of the fighters are women. DW’s Kathrin Erdman talked to them about their reasons for joining the Kurdish militia and the role women now have in society. Anne-Sophie Brändlin has the story.
