Loneliness is a difficult topic to broach perhaps because it's often accompanied by a sense of shame or embarrassment. The Dutch city of Rotterdam has realized that loneliness has become a significant problem particularly amongst the elderly. Which is why it has begun a scheme to try and help these people.
