Operators of Germany's electrical grid have put forward plans to greatly expand the system to meet future needs. The 20-billion euro project would completely realign Germany's power infrastructure to exploit offshore windparks. The project would be completed in 2022, when the last of Germany's nuclear reactors is due to be taken offline.
