A new motorwaythrough Albania to the Adriatic coast is set to open up new trade channels in the Balkans

Constanze TressJune 26, 2009

A new motorway from the border of Kosovo through Albania to the Adriatic coast is set to open up new trade channels in the Balkans. For years Kosovo's ties to Europe through Serbia and Bosnia Hercegovina have been cut off. The new highway link through difficult terrain in Albania will allow Kosovo as well as Macedonia and Bulgaria to export goods by ship. And maybe even Serbia and Bosnia Hercegovina will be able to use the new road. There's still a lot of building work to be done, and modern docking facilities are urgenly needed.
