# Al Qaeda's North Africa branch has freed two Spanish aid workers it had held hostage for nine months. The two men - Roque Pascual and Albert Vilata- were released in Mali. Al Qaeda said the two had been set free because some of its demands had been met. The Spanish government has not commented on reports it paid a ransom. The two men arrived back in Barcelona in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
