Schaaf, the long-time coach of Werder Bremen, was confirmed as Eintracht Frankfurt's new manager by the club on Wednesday.

The 53-year-old spent 14 years as the coach of Bremen, managing the side from 1999 to 2013. He joined the club in 1978 as a defender and spent his whole career at Bremen until stepping down last year.

Schaaf guided Werder to a league and cup double in 2004, as well as winning the German Cup in 1999 and 2009. He also took his Bremen side to the last 16 of the Champions League in 2005 and 2006.

Schaaf joins the club on a two-year contract, taking over the role that Veh quit at the end of the season to take the position of coach at Stuttgart.
