German agriculture minister Hans-Peter Friedrich has resigned, under pressure because a few months ago, as Interior Minister, he told Social Democratic Party leaders that SPD parliamentarian Edathy was under investigation for suspected possession of child pornography. The public prosecutor's office is investigating whether Friedrich illegally breached Interior Ministry secrecy in doing so.
