DW's netiquette policy

DW offers an opportunity for exchange and discussion with its offerings on DW.DE, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms. The friendly and respectful interaction of our users is important to us.

When participating in discussions, please maintain a fair and objective tone, even if differences of opinion arise. Please accept the opinions of other users and refrain from personal attacks. Treat other users as you would like to be treated. Avoid writing in all capital letters, as this could be interpreted as aggressiveness. Also avoid repeated punctuation, such as ????? or !!!!!.

Should you quote other users or prominent people in your comments, please clearly attribute the source. When quoting from copyrighted material, ensure that you have the legal right to do so. If you are unsure whether or not you have the right, it is better to refrain from quoting copyrighted material. This applies not only to texts, but also to photographs, videos, music, etc.

Racist, pornographic, sexist, xenophobic, discriminating and offensive material will be removed, as will content that incites or promotes violence. Please refrain from political appeals of any kind. "Trolling" and "flaming" are not permitted.

Chain letters, junk mail, spam, advertisements and content of a commercial nature is also forbidden. Comments that contain this kind of content will be removed immediately. DW maintains the right to block and/or report users who post content of this nature.

Publishing personal information, such as email addresses or telephone numbers, is not permitted. The contents of private emails or messages from third parties may not be published without their consent.

Note that comments should be closely related to the journalistic content we offer. Please avoid posting comments that do not refer in some way to our content.

In order to prevent long download times, please do not upload video or audio content that exceeds 10 minutes or PDF files that exceed five pages.

In order to use and comment on DW's content, registration is not necessary. Comments and emails will not appear immediately on the website www.dw.de, but will be published by a moderator. This could lead to a slight time delay.

DW maintains the right to erase, move, or close any comment or topic. This also applies to comments that make no reference to our journalistic content.
