South of Munich, in beautiful upper Bavaria, the legendary and quirky King Ludwig ll built many castles which still adorn the landscape today. Visitors get the chance to experience Bavarian Culture and History from its most interesting aspects.
Werner Koch is caretaker of Herrenchiemsee Palace, where he has worked for 22 years. He takes time off from his job to show us his three favourite spots around Chiemsee: a lookout on the bike trail around the lake, an old fashioned nursery run by a Bavarian family and a café in the mountains. A group of colleagues from the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research spend a day on the Lahn River for some rest, relaxation, and a little white water rafting.
