Rosenstolz are back following keyboarder Peter Plate’s recovery from burnout. The German Pop duo’s new single is accompanied by a moving video - and we give you a look behind the scenes as it was shot. Also featured in the show are alternative rockers Breitenbach. Our clips this week come from Deichkind, Jazzanova and Trio, known worldwide for their 1980s minimalist hit "Da Da Da”.
Peter Plate had to take a time out in 2009 after suffering from burnout. With the keyboarder recovered, however, Rosenstolz got back to business in 2011. The duo’s comeback album shot to the top of the German charts, and the single "Lied von den Vergessenen” taken from it is now being released. PopXport looks at the making of the video.
Breitenbach hail from Frankfurt and are fronted by Toby Breitenbach. The trio boast their own brand of Rock (with English lyrics) and have played support for US band Anberlin. Their debut "Starting Over” was produced by the band themselves and released on their own label. We were there to witness their first tour as headliners.
Deichkind are among the most spectacular live acts in Germany. The Hamburg outfit wow their audiences with bizarre costumes and a feisty mix of Techno and Rap - and they’ve also been known to cause a commotion in the charts. Their provocative new single "Bück dich hoch” went straight into the Top 20.
After touring the globe extensively, Jazzanova have returned to the studio. The Berlin Electro-Soul collective chose the recording studio originally used by East German state radio to capture their live sound on tape. There’s also a new track. "I Human" - our TIP of the week.
30 years ago this February, Trio released the single "Da Da Da". After the band’s appearance on British TV show Top of the Pops, however, the curiously catchy track became a hit in 30 countries. It sold a total of 13 million copies and continues to feature in TV adverts across the world.
