
Christian Gramsch became Director of Regionalized Content at Deutsche Welle in January 2012. Previously he had been responsible for DW’s radio and online services as Director of Programs.
Gramsch, born in 1959, completed his journalism training with the Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf from 1980-1981. From 1981 to 1983 he worked as a radio journalist at SWF 3. He then worked as a freelance radio and television journalist for various ARD stations until the end of 1992. During this period he also spent some time as the Bonn correspondent for the radio news agency RUFA.
In 1992 and 1993 he worked as a freelance journalist and presenter for VOX, then again for several ARD stations. Among other things, he hosted the DW television news program "Journal" and the current affairs show "Aktuelle Stunde" on WDR. At the same time, he trained presenters for WDR, SWR and Deutsche Welle.
From March 2000, Gramsch was editor-in-chief for radio at Hessischer Rundfunk, and from 2004 also the director of programs for "hr1 – Das Radio Magazin".
In 2008, he was appointed Director of Programs, responsible for Deutsche Welle's radio and online services in 30 languages.
