The Geneva-based Small Arms Survey estimates that military forces around the world procure around one million small arms and light weapons every year. In any culture, a gun is a very provocative symbol. And while the gun is a weapon of choice for armies, law enforcement services and criminals, it is also an object that contemporary artists are using in their work. Tania Inowlocki of the Small Arms Survey has made a study of guns in contemporary art. Guy Degen asked her to describe some examples.
