Puma and FIFA Settle on One-Piece Kit

German sports goods maker Puma and world football's governing body FIFA said Tuesday they had settled their dispute over the controversial one-piece kit worn by Cameroon in the African Nations Cup.

The outfit caused controversy -- and disrobing questions

The two sides said in a joint statement they would not be disclosing details of the out-of-court settlement, following Puma's lawsuit for damages totaling over two million euros ($2.4 million).

"FIFA and sport-lifestyle company Puma wish to announce that in the interests of international football, they have reached an out-of-court settlement in their legal dispute over Cameroon’s innovative one-piece playing kit," the statement said.

FIFA came down hard on Cameroon for wearing the kit in Tunisia earlier this year, imposing a six-point World Cup qualification penalty and a ban on wearing the kit. The penalty was subsequently lifted on appeal, but the ban remained.

Puma launched legal proceedings with a court in the German city of Nuremburg in July, claiming compensation from world football's governing body.
