Ex-Porn Star Wild No More

Former porn star Michaela Schaffrath has long been trying to make it as a serious actor. Her latest hope is to avoid association with her saucy screen days by shedding her pseudonym.

Will selling Gina Wild set her free?


What's in a name? Bare skin, the sexual fantasies of many a German, and the struggle to leave a past behind. At least if the name happens to be Gina Wild.

Michaela Schaffrath, 34, has decided that enough is enough and is selling all the rights to both the name and the brand "Gina Wild," a racy blond star who has featured in dozens of films in Germany's well-nourished porn industry.

"Someone can buy 'Gina Wild' and do with it what they want, just as long as we have nothing more to do with it," Schaffrath's manager and husband told the German tabloid Bild's Web site.

Since leaving the porn business, the former nurse has appeared in numerous German TV series, but she is always reduced to her past roles in the sex business, she complained to Bild.

"I can't take it anymore! It has to stop," she said.
