Question of the week

What will you do if gas prices keep rising?

How have rising gasoline prices affected your daily life? Perhaps you plan to buy a more fuel-efficient car? Or would you consider doing without an automobile altogether and taking public transportation?

Name: W. H. Johnston

Country: USA

We live in a small town in Virginia and there is absolutely no public transportation. The only thing left is to dig deeper and pay the price for gasoline, no matter how expensive it becomes. America is too spread out and unlike Europe it virtual has no public transportation system. The larger cities have public transportation however they are not as reliable and punctual as those of Germany. If I lived in Germany, I would have no need for an auto. First they cost too much to buy and own. Taxes and insurance for autos is outrageous, when viewed by an American.

Name: Mohamed A.

Country: Iraq

I think that the rise in gasoline prices will lead to the creation of environmentally friendly cars more widely, but not my country, Iraq, where gasoline is available much.

Name: Matti J.

Country: Finland

I will just keep driving, with minimum amount of starts and stops. This will reduce fuel consumption with engine not need to be reignited. Mayby I will avoid some too common problems with parking (like collisions vandalism).
