League-leading Bayern Munich fell to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, just minutes from victory, while Leverkusen squandered the chance to go to the top.
Frankfurt's Martin Fenin scored the deciding goal
Two late goals brought an almost certain victory by Bayern Munich to a crashing halt, as the team fell to Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Up until the final minutes of the hard-fought match, Bayern seemed set to take the game. But a goal from Frankfurt's Juvhel Tsoumou at 87 minutes, and another from Martin Fenin just a minute before the end of regulation time, gave Frankfurt the edge.
Bayern sit two points clear of second-place Schalke at 56 points, but Schalke can take the lead with a win against Hamburg on Sunday.
In Saturday's late game, Bayer Leverkusen failed to capitalize on a chance to lead the league after a crushing loss to Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund's Lucas Barrios scored two in the second half, making him second only to Leverkusen's Stefan Kiessling in league scoring. Dimitar Rangelov got in a late goal, ending the game at 3-0. With the loss, Leverkusen stay in third, three points behind the leaders.
In other Bundesliga matches on Saturday, Werder Bremen twice came from behind to beat Bochum 3-2, keeping their hope of European qualification alive.
Stuttgart blanked a struggling Hanover 2-0, Freiburg defeated Mainz 1-0 and Nuremberg drew 0-0 with Hoffenheim.
On Sunday, in addition to the Schalke-Hamburg game, Wolfsburg will play bottom club Hertha Berlin. In Friday's soccer action, Cologne drew 1-1 with Borussia Moenchengladbach.
