The women's group of Doli Ka Bas village has improved local business
One example is the women’s self-help group in Doli Ka Bas, a small village in Rajasthan. Only a few years ago, the villagers were struggling to survive. Six years ago, 20 women started a small savings project with tiny sums of money saved from their household spendings. The money was used to fund small business projects. In the meantime, their savings program has facilitiated change for their whole village, as Deutsche Welle’s Peter Weitzmann and Daljeet Sachdeva from the Electronic Media Production Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University found out.
