The report stresses the importance of aligning different development policies existing within the European Union. The focus on fragile states reflects an urgent need in assisting countries that count among the poorest in the world, and rank lowest when it comes to human rights and development.
Among the some 30 countries counted as fragile are conflict and post-conflict regions such as Democratic republic of Congo, Sierra Leone and Rwanda as well as Nigeria and Simbabwe. World of Progress talks to Jörn Grävinholt, senior researcher with the German Development Institute (DIE), about European Development policy.
