US artist works through parents' Auschwitz experience in Berlin exhibition

American artist Mindy Weisel's abstract paintings are hauntingly inspired by her parents' suffering during the Nazi regime.

Mindy Weisel was born in a displaced persons’ camp in Germany two years after her Jewish parents were freed from Auschwitz. The young family emigrated to the United States - but the past cast long shadows. A Berlin gallery is now hosting Weisel’s first ever exhibition in the country of her parents.
