EU defence ministers at their informal meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden
On the agenda for EU defence ministers and representatives from the European Commission and NATO were issues such as piracy, the Balkans and EU battlegroups. But the sticking point came as defence ministers affirmed their reluctance to send more troops to Afghanistan, even as NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen sought to assure US President Barack Obama that the war was a "team effort."
