Despite worries about the impact of the global economic downturn, which has hit the aviation industry hard, Airbus said on Tuesday it had racked up further sales worth billions of euros.

Vietnam Airlines said it would buy 16 medium-range A321 aircraft for 1.4 billion euros (1.9 billion US dollars).

Cebu Pacific from the Philippines announced plans to purchase five Airbus A320s for 260 million euros, and low-cost airline Air Asia, based in Malaysia, has ordered ten A350-900 jets and placed options for five more - a deal at catalog prices worth 1.7 billion euros.

On Monday, Qatar airways ordered 24 medium-haul jets for 1.3 billion euros.

Airbus is a consortium of German, French, British and Spanish aircraft industries.
