Perched over the gorge, Zagori is a favorite for hikers
Nestling high up in the rugged mountains of Epirus, in North West Greece, lies a group of 42 stone villages, known collectively as the Zagori or Zagorahoria, which means "Beyond the Mountains" in Greek.
Once largely depopulated, the area is enjoying a comeback as a popular destination for serious hikers and nature-lovers, foreigners and Greeks, as well as the 'chic elite'.
