Hicham Baraka and immigrants
Thousands of sub-Saharan Africans live in tents hidden away in the forests of Oujda, on the Moroccan-Algerian border. They dream of Europe and are looking and hoping for a way to cross the Mediterranean to Spain. Hicham Baraka, a Moroccan human rights activist, does what he can to help them, aware that many Moroccans share the same dream. A select few have made it across the sea, where they lead a very similar existence, often without visas, work permits or jobs, living in barracks among the vegetable plantations on the Spanish coast. DW-TV examines their plight.
