Two girls are riding their bikes, with polo sticks in their hands as well

Urban Cycle Polo takes skill and a lot of balance!

Bicycle Polo is just like traditional Polo – except, as the name suggests, bikes are used instead of horses. It was invented by Irishman Richard J. Mecredy in 1891 and was even a demonstration event at the 1908 London Olympic Games. Since then, teams have sprung up all the world - including in Germany and Hungary, and even as far away as India and Australia. But in the last year, a variation of the game, Urban Cycle Polo, has started gaining popularity in cities. EuroVox discovers more about the game from the streets of London.
