Ronaldo Irked by President Lula's Weight Comments

Brazilian star striker Ronaldo is miffed about comments by President Luis Incacio Lula da Silva about his alleged extra pounds. Ronaldo said he wasn't mad at Lula but said he believed the president had been swayed by misleading media reports. A day earlier Lula had jokingly said during a video conference with the Brazilian national team: "Ronaldo is fat, isn't he?" Ronaldo himself wasn't present during the incriminating remark. Ronaldo's apparent weight problem is a pet obsession of the Brazilian media. "What difference does it make whether I weigh a kilo too much?" the 29-year-old Ronaldo said. "The media has been talking for three years about this nonsense … it doesn't interest anyone."
