Tripurari Sharan has been a member of the Indian Administrative Service for the last 27 years and is currently head of the Indian public broadcaster Doordarshan. He has previously served in senior positions in the Ministries of Defense, Commerce and Railways and from 2003 to 2009, he was the Director of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) – the national film school of India. He has also served as Managing Director of State Film Development Corporation of Government of Bihar. As an independent film maker, he has two feature films to his credit, apart from several documentaries on development issues.
