Oleg Khomenok has 20 years of experience in journalism, media education, GR, and managing investigative reporting and media support projects in the post-Soviet media environment. He has eight years of experience working as a reporter investigating political campaigns and ethnic minority issues in Crimea.


Between 1992 and 1998, Khomenok was a reporter and editor for local Crimean newspapers and worked for several newspapers and news agencies. From 1994-1997, he worked as head of the Crimean Parliament press office. He spent five years as regional correspondent for the European Institute for the Media, and as a media expert participated in preparing a special report about the media situation in Ukraine by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.


From 1997-2002, Khomenok managed the IREX ProMedia Crimean IPC, a USAID-funded project. From 2002-2007 he worked as a media trainer and advisor for the IREX U-Media project, conducting office management and overseeing implementation of the USAID-funded project for media support in Ukraine. Coordinating SCOOP activities in Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus since 2003, Oleg Khomenok has extensive experience advising and networking reporters, as well as developing, coordinating and reporting activities for more than 80 national and cross-border investigative reporting projects between Ukrainian and other European reporters.
