Harald Gapski is head of the department for media education at the Grimme Institute and has an academic background in communication science from the University of Essen in Germany and in media studies from the New School in New York. He has been involved in regional, national and European projects, media literacy, research and evaluation projects on information and communication technologies and media usage for various target groups. Previously he worked as researcher at the European Institute for the Media in Düsseldorf and as head of project development at the European Centre for Media Competence in Marl. He is the author and editor of books and articles on media competence, information literacy, the digital divide and social media.
