Conrad Schetter is a research fellow and deputy director at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) of the University of Bonn, where he heads a research group on governance and conflict. He habilitated in development studies at University of Bonn in 2009. He is the author of numerous books and articles on local structures of power and violence, international intervention politics as well as collective identities. In recent years his main regional focus has been on Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia. Currently he heads several research projects on local governance in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan. Since 2011 he has been the scientific coordinator of the competence network “Crossroads Asia. Conflict, Migration, Development”. In recent years Schetter was asked for policy recommendations by the German government, the United Nations and NATO as well as by development agencies such as Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Welthungerhilfe and Concern.
