Jörg Sadrozinski studied journalism in Munich. During and after his studies he worked for the Munich-based Süddeutsche Zeitung daily newspaper, the dpa news agency and Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), the main public German radio and television broadcasting company for Bavaria.

In 1991, Sadrozinski joined Hamburg-based Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), another regional public radio and television broadcaster, which also transmits for the states of Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein. He started at NDR as a television journalist for the ARD network of German public broadcasters' flagship current affairs and news programs. In 1998 he developed the news service's website, tagesschau.de, which he led until May 2011. As the managing editor of tagesschau.de he was a member of the editorial board of ARD's central TV news bureau.

In 2011 he became the director of the German School of Journalism (Deutsche Journalistenschule) in Munich, one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of its kind in Germany. Sadrozinski has been teaching for more than ten years at various academies and journalism schools and has published widely on media convergence and journalism in transition. For his overall responsibility for the "tagesschau" blog he received a Grimme Online Award in 2007.
