Jukes, Prof. Stephen

Stephen Jukes is Dean of Bournemouth University's Media School. He spent most of his working career as a foreign correspondent for the international news agency Reuters, covering news in eastern and western Europe, the Middle East and the United States. In his final position at Reuters, Jukes was global Head of News. Before taking up his appointment as Dean of the Media School in 2005 he was a visiting scholar at Green College, Oxford. He is chair of European operations of the Dart Center, a global organization focusing on the media and trauma; deputy chair of the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund, a charity in honor of a US war correspondent killed in Sierra Leone; and a trustee of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR). He has an MA in modern languages from Hertford College, Oxford.
