Lüders, Dr. Michael

Political and Economic Consultant, Journalist and Middle East Specialist, Berlin Germany

Michael Lüders was born in Bremen, Germany, in 1959. He studied Arabic literature in Damascus and Islamic studies, political science and journalism in Berlin. He gained a PhD in the subject Egyptian cinema. Lüders has produced documentaries for the German broadcaster SWR and WDR. He was long-time Middle East correspondent for the weekly Die Zeit. Based in Berlin, he works as a political and economic consultant, journalist and author. Other activities:

  • Lecturer at the Centre for Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the Philipps University of Marburg
  • Vice Chairman of the German Orient Foundation
  • Organization of international seminars and conferences
  • Fiction and nonfiction writer

Commentator of German, Swiss and Austrian media on the Middle East, the Arab world, Islam, including the ARD, ZDF, RTL, SAT 1, 3sat, N24, n-tv, mirror tv TV networks, and all German public (ARD) radio stations and commercial radio broadcasters.
