Kalinga Seneviratne, a trained engineer, is today a journalist, radio and television producer and an international and cross-cultural communications specialist. He is a recipient of a UN Media Peace Prize for his work on Australian community radio. He is a freelance correspondent for IPS news agency, teaches international communications and is currently the head of research and capacity building at the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) in Singapore. He holds a PhD in international communications from Macquarie University, Australia, and is the author of a forthcoming book Countering MTV Influence in Indonesia and Malaysia to be published by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.
