April 27, 2012

Women in Africa became more influential in the last years and leading positions are increasingly taken over by women. Nevertheless many girls struggle with discrimination. The way to gender equality is still long.

After getting an enormous amount of positive feedback on the first Learning by Ear program on women and girls, Deutsche Welle produced a new series about girls’ rights.

In the first series, the young hero Bibiye openly speaks out how girls are being disadvantaged in daily life and encourages her friends to fight for their rights. This time we will be following three friends - Ciro, Fatuma and Cheptoo - as they face teenage girl challenges. While going through their experiences, they will find out more about their rights and how to tackle difficult situations. Listen in and learn more about a girl's rights and increase your awareness of the issue.

Deutsche Welle’s Learning by Ear is available in six languages: English, Kiswahili, French, Hausa, Portuguese and Amharic.
