Rainer Rothfuss was born in 1971. He studied geography, political science and spatial planning at the universities of Tübingen and Stuttgart in Germany and Mérida in Venezuela. He holds a doctorate in political geography with special focus on transnational city network cooperation. He is professor of human geography at Tübingen University’s Institute of Geography. Rothfuss leads a research team dealing with inter-religious conflicts from the perspective of political geography and geographic conflict research. His regional focus covers Sudan, Nigeria and Ghana.
