It's a walk out

Frankfurt airport, Germany's busiest, will see further disruptive strikes on Monday as air traffic controllers push the aviation hub's administrators for a wage increase.

Germany's busiest airport will be hit with further strikes Monday, only days after a two-day walk-out by tarmac staff caused heavy delays and over 100 flight cancellations at one of Europe's major aviation hubs.

Air traffic control union GdF called on its members to walk out in protest for 24 hours from 5 a.m. Monday.

Unions have been locked in talks with the airport's administrator, Fraport, for months pushing for wage increases.

"The inflexible attitude of Fraport leaves us with no choice but to continue this fight with all the labor resources available," said a spokesperson for GdF.

Fraport has stood its ground, however, insisting the union's demands are excessive.

Two days of strikes were called on Thursday and Friday last week, resulting in hundreds of flight cancellations.

Frankfurt airport is Europe's third busiest airport after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
