Cyprus - Reunification Hopes

Cyprus has been a divided country for 40 years. During the last few weeks, there have been talks about ending that rift. Both sides hope to gain economically by reunifying. The Turkish-governed north of the island is underdeveloped because it is not recognized as a country.

The Greek-dominated southern part of the country is plagued by Greece's debt crisis and is hoping its economy will gain new momentum from increased tourism.
