This year's UN conference in Lima was designed to pave the way for a new global treaty, scheduled to be agreed in Paris in 2015. After overtime haggling over who should cut emissions by how much, a watered-down compromise resolution was finally passed. Does this reflect awareness that 2014 is on track to be one of the warmest years ever, and that greenhouse gas emissions are still rising?
