Christoph Niemann's drawings are often to be seen on the cover of The New Yorker. He is one of the world's leading graphic artists.

He spent eleven years in New York but has now come home to Germany, and lives with his family in Berlin. He talks to Talking Germany about the art of simplicity.

Christoph Niemann studied graphic art in Stuttgart. In 1997 he moved to New York, where he soon became a sought-after illustrator. In 2010 he was inducted into the Art Directors' Club Hall of Fame. His drawings have graced the covers of prestigious publications, not only in the United States and Germany. Niemann relishes the new creative opportunities the evolving digital media provide, developing picture-book apps alongside his work on paper. He has published several children's books and a collection of drawings from his New York Times blog 'Abstract City'. Christoph Niemann now lives in Berlin.
