Visitors in Berlin were able to go for a stroll through the chancellery and take a look at the various ministries.

Government spokespeople were also on hand to provide information.

The chancellor herself showed guests around her workplace, and other ministers were also there to present their respective ministries. They included Economics Minister Philipp Rösler (FDP), Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) and Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle (FDP).

The Open House event was introduced after the seat of the German government moved from Bonn to Berlin. Since then it has taken place every year.

This year saw about 20,000 more visitors than last year attend the event.
