Bundesliga Matchday 14 Predictions
It's that time of the week again! We have our finger on the pulse ahead of this weekend's Bundesliga action. DW's Andreas Sten-Ziemons predicts the results.
Bayer can't stop Bayern
It would be wonderful. Leverkusen beat Bayern Munich in Munich and restore faith in the German title race. Sadly, that won't happen this weekend. Bayern won't let Roger Schmidt's wild pressing tactics stop them. Prediction: Bayern 3-1 Leverkusen.
"The Wolves" primed to bite
If it works once, then it's hard to stop. VfL Wolfsburg win the Lower Saxony derby against Hannover 96 and consolidate their aim of playing in the Champions League next season. Prediction: Hannover 1-3 Wolfsburg
Sport clubs share the points
In the clash between two of the Bundesliga's 'Sport Clubs', neither side will be able to gain the sporting victory. Both teams will show great desire and hunger to score goals, but this time the pair will have to be happy with a point. Prediction: Paderborn 1-1 Freiburg.
The Billy Goats struggle for goals
As said by Leverkusen's Roger Schmidt, or to that effect: Those who destroy the game cannot score. Cologne put their backs to the wall against FC Augsburg, but continue to struggle in front of goal. Then again, at least they aren't conceding. Prediction: Cologne 0-0 Augsburg.
Foals gallop again
After three league defeats in a row, Borussia Mönchengladbach will get back to winning, beating Hertha BSC. The Foals counterattacking football will work again, leaving Hertha without much to say. Prediction: Gladbach 3-1 Hertha.
Centurion hurts Schalke
Huub Stevens is an institution at Schalke. The grumpy Dutchman was once voted as the club's coach of the century and still has a huge reputation in Gelsenkirchen. He manages to help Stuttgart wrestle a point in this one. Prediction: Stuttgart 0-0 Schalke.
Zinnbauer's work stagnates
The coaching change at Hamburg has yet to really work out. The club have lost five of their 10 games under new man Joe Zinnbauer, winning only three. Hamburg's players want to do better, but they can't. Prediction: Hamburg 1-2 Mainz.
Schaaf returns to old love
What a return this will be. The Werder Bremen legend Thomas Schaaf, current Eintracht Frankfurt coach, has to face "his" SV Werder on the weekend. It's a good thing that Schaaf is a pragmatic man. He resists the temptation of emotion and leads his new team to victory. Prediction: Frankfurt 2-1 Bremen.
