Project type: sustainable construction with bamboo
Project goal: quick reforestation, storing carbon dioxide
Project size: 50,000 hectares of bamboo forest

Giant bamboo can grow up to 35 meters in just six months, making it an invaluable plant for swift reforestation. Bamboo can also absorb 40 times as much carbon dioxide per hectare as other types of forests. The German-Colombian organization "School for Life" is using the robustness and versatility of bamboo to build schools, homes and community centers, combining ecological sustainability and social commitment.
