At the road cycling world championships in Ponferrada, Spain, Germany's Lisa Brennauer claimed her second gold medal in three days on Tuesday. She took first place in the individual time trial, finishing the 29.5-kilometer (18.3-mile) out and back course from Ponferrada in 38 minutes, 48 seconds.

That follows her contribution to Specialized-Lululemon's team time-trial gold medal performance on Sunday.

Ukraine's Anna Solovey finished 18 seconds behind Brennauer to take second. Brennauer's Specialized-Lululemon teammate, American Evelyn Stevens, finished third.

Brennauer said the course was particularly suited to her style of riding. There was one climb near the finish, which played into her plan.

"I knew that it was so good for me, that it was so long," she said. "I just gave it all on the climb and took no risks on the downhill."

The women's road race is scheduled for Saturday.

Germany's Tony Martin will seek his fourth-straight time-trial title in the men's race on Wednesday. The men's road race concludes the week-long event in Spain on Sunday.
