Borussia Mönchengladbach defeated FK Sarajevo 3-2 at Asim Feratovic Stadium in Sarajevo's northeastern Kosevo neighborhood on Thursday, to take command of their two-game aggregate playoff from which the winner will advance to the group stage of the Europa League.

Andre Hahn found the back of the net to give Gladbach the lead in the 11th minute, but the Bosnians leveled the score in the 26th through Bojan Puzigaca.

Swedish national Branimir Hrgota, though, gave the Foals a renewed lead four minutes before the break.

Haris Duljevic drew FK level in the 59th minute, but Gladbach would not be denied, with Hrgota, who was born in nearby Zenica putting the Bosnians in front to stay in the 73rd minute.

This means that a draw will be enough to see the western-German side through to the group stage, when the two teams meet in the return leg of their playoff in Gladbach in a week's time.
