Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday confirmed the transfer of Hertha Berlin striker Adrian Ramos. The 28-year-old, who has scored 16 goals this season, remains under contract at the Berliners until July 1, 2014.

The Colombian is the third-leading scorer in the Bundesliga with 16 goals - behind Robert Lewandowski and Mario Mandzukic. Ramos has been directly involved in 23 of Hertha's goals this season and has netted 32 times in 89 appearances for the Old Lady.

"Adrian Ramos is an excellent footballer and one of the top scorers in Germany. It fits perfectly in Borussia Dortmund's requirements," sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website.

Dortmund have been in the transfer market for a replacement to Lewandowski, who will move to Bayern Munich in the summer at the end of his current deal.

While Ramos and Dong-Won Ji have already bolstered the options for Klopp ahead of next season, it remains unclear whether either are lined up as direct successors to the Polish frontman. Both Ji and Ramos have been on the scoresheet against Dortmund this season for their respective clubs.

"It was my desire to make the next step in my career and play in the Champions League," Ramos said. "Anyone who knows me will know I will give everything for Hertha until the end of the season."

Hertha BSC and Borussia Dortmund have opted to keep the official transfer fee undisclosed, but suggestions could put the figure anywhere over 10 million euros. ($13 million).
