Eva Wagner-Pasquier will no longer be co-head of the Bayreuth Festival, effective as of September 2015. After a discussion with Toni Schmit, chair of the festival's managing committee, she confirmed the decision on Thursday (20.02.2014) evening to the German daily "Nordbayerischer Kurier."

"I've requested the organizers to engage me as a consultant, beginning in September 2015," said Richard Wagner's 68-year-old great-granddaughter.

Wagner-Pasquier has offered no reason for her decision to step down. In September 2008, she began a seven-year term as one of the festival's directors, together with her half-sister Katharina Wagner.

Separately, negotiations are ongoing concerning extensions of the contracts held by Katharina Wagner and Heinz-Dieter Sense, the festival's managing director.
