It’s back to the 'Green Hill' in Bayreuth for more of Richard Wagner's romantic opera 'Tannhäuser' - plus a rare treat.
In Act Two of the opera we’ll hear the "battle of the singers" at Wartburg Castle, with minnesingers Biterolf, Walther von der Vogelweide, Wolfram von Eschenbach and of course Tannhäuser, welcomed back now into the circle of knights and minstrels after his unexpected return. In the second act we’ll also meet Elisabeth and her uncle, Hermann, Landgrave of Thuringia. The setting is the singers' hall of Wartburg castle.
This year we also had the rare privilege of being taken on an behind-the-scenes acoustical tour of the Festpielhaus, a world cultural heritage site. We'll take you along to hear how Richard Wagner's personally designed festival theater ticks.
