Banking on Brussels

A total of 27 member states and 485 million people -- the European Union is the largest confederation of countries in the world. In order to strengthen the bloc's economic and social cohesion, the EU has a multitude of regional and common policies. The resources that Brussels has available for these policies are considerable, with an annual budget of more than 100 billion Euros.
