The Algerian army has stormed the gas plant in In Amenas where Islamist militants took hundreds of people hostage. At least 11 militants are reported dead, as well as 7 more of the hostages.
Twenty-three hostages and 32 militants were killed over three days during the gas plant hostage drama in Algeria, according to its interior ministry. On Saturday alone, seven hostages and 11 extremists were killed.
The Algerian prime minister has said that 37 foreign hostages were killed during the standoff with Islamist militants at a gas plant in In Amenas. He said at least one Canadian was among the hostage takers.
Seven hostages were killed by militants during a 'final' army assault at the In Amenas gas plant, according to Algeria's state news agency. Troops also killed 11 Islamists during day-four of the standoff, it said.
