In a sense, all people are African. It's here where the first human beings on earth lived. Millennia later, powerful empires covered many parts of the continent. But, like any continent, African history also has it's dark periods. The slave trade for instance, or the development of colonial empires by the Europeans.
Take a journey through Africa's colourful and diverse past and learn more about how Africa's history shapes present-day life in the continent. As the saying goes, “Only they that understand the past, can influence the future”.
Don't worry, though, there is no reading from dull history books! Instead, our tour through the centuries centers on June, a curious African teenager. Together with her wise grandfather, she explores the past of their home continent.
